Annette Adler follows her debut album Color My World with a collection of songs written for her sons and released in memory of her mom and mother-in-law, called Mama Proud. These songs come from Adler's own experiences as a parent and from the collective voice of fellow mothers whom she calls her "Mom Village." Blending several genres for a folk, Americana sound, the album brings together anthems, hootenannies, bluesy ballads, island vibes and inviting sing-a-alongs. These tunes are filled with powerful simplicity that aim to nuture, ground and empower not only her sons but listeners too. Throughout the album, listeners will get a sense of what moms are really thinking even if they don't always say so. It will speak not only to mothers, but anyone who has navigated the emotional rollercoaster of parenting.
